Child Benefit Payment is an important part of family support in many countries and the payment dates in Germany depend on the last digit of the child benefit number. Below you’ll find the payment schedules for 2024 and 2025 as well as the current payment amounts and planned increases.

2024: As of January 1, 2023 the child benefit was increased to €250 per child per month for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd child. For each additional child €250.
2025: The child benefit will be increased by €5 to €255 per child from 2025.
2026: Another increase of €4 will bring the benefit to €259 per child.

Child benefit is paid by the Family Benefits Office (Familienkasse) and depends on the last digit of the child benefit number. This number is assigned when the benefit is first approved and is on your child benefit notice.
